I was cleaning out a drawer in my kitchen tonight and I came across a picture of myself from the 80’s. *shudder*
One thing was immediately obvious to me, and I thought I’d share it with you to see if you agree with this theory.
Old pictures completely prove that time traveling is not, nor will it ever be, possible.
Why, you ask?
Because if it ever really happened, there is no effing way that I wouldn’t have gone back to the 80's and told myself to get rid of that humongous feathered hairdo.
Oh, yeah! I totally would’ve mentioned the shoulder pads, too. WTF!

I agree about the legwarmers, but have to admit I owned a pair --- who didn't want to be Jennifer Beals from Flashdance, or Madonna in her 'Like a Virgin' stage?
Don't forget the bow tied silk padded shoulder shirt with the padded shoulder jacket.
What WERE we thinking? I remember not being able to leave the house unless my hair feathered just right. Now, I just wash and go and don't care what it looks like.
Iwas so vain.. there was that one song, I thought it was all about me
My hair was too kinky to feather, so I went with the curly perm look (which was natural curl for me). Many girls in my school looked like poodles...wearing leg warmers and shoulder pads. It's a wonder any of us married.
The excessively padded shoulders was the worse part of that dress era. I think we were all in training to take over the world from our male counterparts.
But would 80s-you have believed today-you??? I'd say she probably would have laughed and told you her blue hair looked totally amazing with her feathered hairdo.
I used to have a picture of Madonna from the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan" and tried every day to recreate that hairdo. Rave hairspray was the "god" of all hairsprays. Go out without shoulder pads? Never!! Leg warmers then, heck ya, but I wore the ones my grandmother knitted for me. Had every color you could want.
Yeah... I remember fleck suits with shoulder pads and espadrilles (sp?)
Bear in mind this was the UK - where it rained - a lot.... and not Miami.
What were we thinking?!
Still - you have to admit the music was great!
Yes, we all have "those" pictures. But I venture we have a couple of photos we love, the ones that hurt a little bit to see. In a good way. The one we eventually put up on the wall to surprise our children with, "Hey, that was ME!"
Those are the pictures of us I'd love to see.
What were we thinking? LOL You have to admit that the music was pretty darn good though!
I was such a Madonna-wannabe! I watched Desperately Seeking Susan gazillions of times just for wardrobe inspiration.
TMI?
Oh but my pictures are in totally flourescent attire, with the shoulder pads and the claw bang!
okay, i still think 80's music was totally kick ass.
but i wouldn't want to go back there any more than i want to go back to my 20's.
ick.
and *shudder*.
andy
First I sooo want that clock!!! SEcond I soooo want to see that picture..email it too me chickin cuz I know you won't post it.. !!!
80's did have the best music and clubs!!
you raise a very good point - there is no way in hell that I would have allowed my brows and my hair to remain as they were. Although, what if there IS time travel, but you're not allowed to do anything b/c you'll totally f up the future if you did.
They'd certainly never trust me with this technology. I'd leave and 10 minutes later the apes would be running the place.
in the 80's i was just coming into my own - so I can relate to trying fashionable things at the time - in order to feel prettier or more like I belonged to some kind of club...
You're teasing us again! Photo, please!
I wanna see your feathered hair and shoulder pads!
;-)
The clock is pretty awesome...
I concure with Jane at Gaston Studio regarding the shoulder pads. We were preparing to find equallity in the work force. Too bad we had to experiment with shoulder pads!
Regarding big hair, I loved my big hair. I keep wanting to bring it back!
yeah, but I was skinny then. . . big hair and all!
I loved the big hair and those cute little leg warmers and the Madonna jewelery, but the shoulder pads were funny!
I need the picture!! Big shoulder pads, fluffy hair, suspenders??? We need to see the evidence.
The poodle perm should never be spoken of again. Never.
I totally want that clock!!!
I had great hair in the 80's. But you should have seen my glasses. Ick.
Oh, God. I had a curly perm!
That clock is fabulous.
My husband is obsessed with the clock. Perhaps you can tell me where it came from if I find a picture of him in the 80's?
Giant hair, giant shoulder pads, and giant earrings.
